Today, the Embassy of Ukraine in Canada has launched a beautiful tradition – gifting newborn Ukrainian children their very first vyshyvankas.

On the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day, Ambassador Yuliya Kovaliv presented the first six children, born in Canada but registered at the Ukrainian Consulate in Ottawa as citizens of Ukraine, with traditional embroidered shirts brought from their homeland.

May these vyshyvankas protect you, dear children, endow you with the strength of your native land, and become a talisman for your happy future.
