A multi-party delegation from the House of Commons of the Parliament of Canada, led by Speaker Greg Fergus, visited Ukraine.
During meetings with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sibiga, and Ukrainian parliamentarians, key issues of bilateral cooperation, security, and support for Ukraine amid Russian aggression were discussed.
Key topics of the meetings included:
🔹 Ukraine’s path to NATO and the invitation for accession to the Alliance as a key element of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Victory Plan. Ukraine expects strong support during the NATO Parliamentary Assembly session, which will take place in November in Canada.
🔹 Support for Ukraine’s energy system ahead of the winter period and strengthening defense assistance from Canada.
🔹 Sanctions pressure on Russia – Canada’s crucial role in creating and maintaining a sanctions regime to hold the aggressor accountable for its criminal invasion.
🔹 Release of prisoners and deported Ukrainians – preparations for the Ministerial Conference on the Human Dimension, scheduled for October 30–31 in Canada as part of implementing the Peace Formula.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Canadian partners for 5 billion Canadian dollars, allocated from profits of frozen Russian assets, as well as for Canada’s continuous military and political support. He emphasized the importance of allied unity and their firm stance in supporting Ukraine.
Greg Fergus, speaking from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stated:
🔹 “Canada is working with G7 partners and globally to sustain a sanctions regime that will punish Russia for its aggression.”
🔹 “Ukraine will never surrender and will always remain free.”
🔹 “Make no mistake, friends: everything that Russia has stolen, Ukraine will take back.”
Canada continues to demonstrate its unwavering solidarity with Ukraine both in the short and long term. The Security Agreement between our two countries is an important step toward strengthening strategic partnership in the fields of defense and security.
The Embassy of Ukraine in Canada highly values this visit as a powerful signal of support and unity between Ukraine and Canada in the fight for freedom, democracy, and security.
🇺🇦🤝🇨🇦 Together – to victory!
