Ambassador of Ukraine Yuliya Kovaliv today welcomed the participants of the Mitacs Globalink Research Internship (GRI) program, who will have the opportunity to undertake a 12-week research internship at some of Canada’s leading universities starting this summer.
In June 2022, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Mitacs and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, enabling Ukrainian undergraduate students in their third or fourth year of full-time study to participate in the GRI program.
The Mitacs Globalink Research Internship is an international initiative for students from Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, Taiwan, Tunisia, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Ukraine to gain research experience. The program is available at more than 70 universities across Canada.
Each year, selected participants undertake research internships under the supervision of professors at Canadian universities in a variety of disciplines, ranging from engineering, technology, and mathematics to the humanities and social sciences.
For Ukrainian students, participation in this program is entirely free, with all expenses related to their stay in Canada covered by the Government of Canada.
This year, 107 students from Ukraine were selected to participate, providing them the opportunity to work on collaborative projects with professors and mentors at Canadian universities.
We extend our gratitude to Mitacs, the Government of Canada, and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for their support and for providing Ukrainian students, alongside peers from 13 other countries, the opportunity to participate in the GRI program, gaining valuable skills, knowledge, and practical experience.
Congratulations to all the students who have seized this incredible opportunity, and we wish them great success!
