Tomorrow, November 19, Ukraine will commemorate a tragic milestone in its modern history – 1,000 days since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

Over these 1,000 days, the Ukrainian people have endured unspeakable pain and suffering. Thousands of lives have been lost, millions of families have been forced to flee their homes, and entire cities have been reduced to rubble. The war has brought horror to every corner of our country: schools, hospitals, churches, and even our youngest and most vulnerable citizens – children – have become targets of attacks.

Despite it all, Ukraine remains steadfast. Our people have shown the world extraordinary courage, resilience, and unity. Every rebuilt home, every saved life, and every moment of resistance against aggression testifies to Ukraine’s unbreakable spirit.

We also know that we are not alone. The unwavering support of our friends and allies around the world strengthens us.

Today, on the eve of the 1,000-day mark, a solemn flag-raising ceremony was held in Ottawa near Canada’s iconic Peace Tower at Parliament Hill. The event was attended by Members of the House of Commons and the Senate of Canada, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Ottawa, the leadership and members of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, as well as members of the Ukrainian community.

During the ceremony, attendees viewed thematic exhibitions: "Timeline of War" and "Living The War" – displays that serve as poignant reminders of the horrors of war and showcase the unyielding resilience of the Ukrainian people.

We continue our fight for a free, peaceful, and sovereign Ukraine, and this anniversary serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of maintaining unity in this struggle.
