On November 19, the House of Commons of the Canadian Parliament unanimously adopted a resolution marking 1000 days of Russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine.
Specifically, the House of Commons of the Canadian Parliament:
🔹 Condemned Russia's ongoing massive and unjustified aggression against Ukraine and recognized that Ukraine stands at the frontline of the free world, defending the values of freedom, democracy, global security, and human rights;
🔹 Honored those who have given their lives defending these shared values and reaffirmed Canada’s unwavering commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty;
🔹 Acknowledged that Vladimir Putin initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, leading to daily atrocities against the Ukrainian people, including genocide, crimes against humanity, and the violent crime of aggression;
🔹 Called on Russia to fully cease hostilities against Ukraine and withdraw all its troops and armed forces from Ukrainian territory;
🔹 Urged the Government of Canada to continue providing significant military and humanitarian support to Ukraine to achieve a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace;
🔹 Called for the prohibition of all forms of Russian state media in Canada;
🔹 Supported Ukraine's future membership in NATO;
🔹 Called for the strengthening of sanctions against Russia, including measures to hold accountable those circumventing sanctions in the energy, military, and technology sectors;
🔹 Called for every possible effort to ensure the return of Ukrainian prisoners of war, unlawfully detained civilians, and Ukrainian children forcibly deported to Russia, as well as to support efforts to bring to justice those responsible for committing the crime of aggression and war crimes.
We extend our gratitude to Members of Parliament Heather McPherson (New Democratic Party) and Stéphane Bergeron (Bloc Québécois) for initiating and introducing the resolution, as well as to all Members of the House of Commons for supporting the resolution and making numerous statements in support of Ukraine.
Additionally, the House of Commons observed a moment of silence in memory of Ukrainians who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of Ukraine.
