The NATO Parliamentary Assembly Adopted a Crucial Resolution in Support of Ukraine
26 November 2024 23:15

Following the 70th Annual Session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly held in Montreal, the Assembly adopted an important resolution titled Standing with Ukraine until Victory.

This document reflects unwavering support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression and reaffirms the strategic goal of ensuring Ukraine's victory.

The resolution condemns Russia’s war against Ukraine, including missile strikes and drone attacks on civilian infrastructure aimed at terrorizing the Ukrainian population. The Assembly emphasized that Russia bears full responsibility for the most severe security crisis in Europe since World War II.

The document calls on allied nations to:

  • Increase and accelerate the supply of military aid to Ukraine, including air defense systems such as the Patriot and other weapons to protect the civilian population.
  • Strengthen sanctions against Russia and its allies, including Belarus, Iran, and North Korea.
  • Support the establishment of a special tribunal to investigate Russia’s crimes of aggression against Ukraine.
  • Intensify actions to confiscate frozen Russian assets and repurpose them for Ukraine's reconstruction.
  • Enhance efforts to integrate Ukraine into NATO, emphasizing the importance of continuing the implementation of the Washington Summit commitments, which foresee Ukraine’s membership in the Alliance.

Special attention was given to international support for Ukraine within the framework of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula, as well as the need for significantly increased assistance for Ukraine’s reconstruction.

The NATO Parliamentary Assembly expressed profound respect for the courage and resilience of the Ukrainian people, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and Ukraine’s state institutions.
