Yesterday, February 24, on the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a special commemorative event took place in the Parliament of Canada - a powerful gathering in support of Ukraine and its people.
The event was organized by Senators Stanley Kutcher and Donna Dasko,
Ukrainian Canadian Congress - Ottawa Branch, with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in Canada.
It brought together over 250 attendees, including Members of Parliament from various political parties, ambassadors and diplomats, activists, and members of the Ukrainian community.
The Embassy of Ukraine was represented by Minister-Counsellor Andrii Bukvych, who delivered remarks reaffirming Ukraine’s unwavering commitment to its fight for freedom, just and lasting peace.
Throughout the evening, guests had the opportunity to experience powerful exhibitions:
Timeline of the War - a visual journey through the key moments of Ukraine’s resistance.
Helmets of Heart: Honoring Ukraine through Art - a tribute to Ukrainian defenders through artistic expression. @rebuild_ua_hackathon
VR War Up Close - an immersive experience bringing the harsh realities of war to life.
The most emotional moments of the evening came through music and poetry:
"Українська хорова капела" Choir's rendition of Плине кача (A Duckling Swims in the Tisza) filled the hall with deep sorrow and remembrance.
We extend our deepest gratitude to all the organizers, speakers, performers, and attendees who came together to show their unwavering support for Ukraine. Your solidarity is a testament to the strength of our shared values and the deep bond between Ukraine and Canada.
