The President appointed famous TV journalist, politician and civil activist Andriy Shevchenko to the post of Ukrainian Ambassador to Canada.
At the meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador, the President underlined strategic importance of the Ambassador’s tasks in the country, in which “the Ukrainian factor plays the biggest role outside our country”.
The President wished Mr. Shevchenko to do everything to enhance and develop Ukrainian-Canadian relations: “I am confident that your enthusiasm, political experience and willingness to work will create a powerful basis for the further efficient improvement of our relations”. The Head of State emphasized that today’s relations between Ukraine and Canada were at a very high level of mutual trust and support.
Petro Poroshenko reminded at Canada had been one of the first countries to provide an immediate military-technical assistance to Ukraine in conditions of Russian aggression against our country. According to him, Canada is one of the strongest and most reliable advocates and partners of Ukraine in the world.
Andriy Shevchenko expressed gratitude for confidence and assured the President that he fully understands the responsibility of his new mission. He also outlined the main priorities of his work: political support that will guarantee Canada’s further leadership in the international coalition aimed to assist Ukraine, military-technical cooperation and free trade area that requires real investment projects.
