In Ottawa, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with representatives of the Ukrainian community in Canada in the course of which he expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian-Canadian community for the contribution to the development of independent and powerful Ukraine. The meeting took place near the Canadian Parliament.
The Head of State informed that the Verkhovna Rada had ratified the Association Agreement with the EU. “It is the last farewell to the Soviet Union. Nothing and nobody will stop us on our civilizational path of state development,” he emphasized.
The President stressed that the absence of reforms couldn’t be justified by war. “We must overcome corruption and elect new pro-Ukrainian Parliament. We must eliminate the fifth column in the Verkhovna Rada,” Petro Poroshenko noted.
“We will win this war, for it is our true struggle for independence and peace on the Ukrainian land,” the Head of State said.
Addressing the people, Petro Poroshenko stressed that he felt in Canada like home.
The Ukrainian community in Canada gave the President paintings made by Canadian children for Ukrainian militaries who defend Ukraine in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
People chanted: “Together – to the victory”, “Glory to Ukraine!”, “Ukraine is above all”.
