Such confidence was expressed by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during his meeting with Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper. “I am confident that after the inauguration we can start a new page in relations between Ukraine and Canada”, - said the President of Ukraine.

Petro Poroshenko thanked Stephen Harper for the support provided by Canada to Ukraine and Ukrainian people. “We are thankful that Canada supports Ukraine, Ukrainian integrity, solidarity and fight of Ukraine for the territorial integrity and independence”, - he said.

The Head of State also highly appreciated the relations between people of two countries and thanked to the Prime Minister of Canada for the support of Ukrainian community in Canada. “I am thankful for the special treatment to the Ukrainian community in Canada at the governmental level. I consider that it will also enhance the ties”, - he stated.

“Canada is the first state which recognized the independence of Ukraine. Thus I consider it symbolic that you are the first delegation which I met as the President”, - said the Head of State.

The Prime Minister of Canada, in its turn, noted that Canada is unite with Ukrainian people and “believe in its European future”.
