Prime Minister Stephen Harper spoke with Petro Poroshenko to extend his personal congratulations on his electoral results following the May 25th presidential elections in Ukraine.

Mr. Poroshenko expressed his deep appreciation for the friendship between our countries and the strong leadership that Canada is taking in support of Ukraine, including by sending hundreds of observers during the recent elections.

Prime Minister Harper confirmed Canada's ongoing solidarity with Ukraine and the importance of respect for Ukraine's territorial integrity.

Both leaders looked forward to meeting at the earliest opportunity.
