The group consists of Senators and MPs of both the ruling Conservative Party and the opposition Liberal and New Democratic parties.
The meeting was chaired by Mr.T.Opitz (Member of Parliament, Conservative Caucus).
The participants discussed the economic, financial and political situation in Ukraine after the Maidan, the annexation of the Crimea and its consequences for our country, the situation in eastern Ukraine and the possibility of another military intervention by Russia, the Ukrainian-Russian relations in various fields, preparation for early presidential elections in Ukraine.
Canadian MPs expressed their unequivocal support for the Ukrainian government to carry out political and economic reforms, fighting corruption, strengthening European integration. Also MPs supported Ukraine’s position in the conflict with Russia.
The Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the Canada for supporting Ukraine at the international political arena, as well as providing financial assistance, which is extremely important for our country in transition period.
