Ambassador Vadym Prystaiko met with Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of Canada Noel Kinsella

The counterparts had a keen exchange of thoughts on developing interaction between our two countries in different sphere under Ukraine-Canada Special Partnership. In particular they discussed trade and economy, maritime cooperation, joint development of high-tech, education and science, interaction on global security, especially as Ukraine is chairing in 2013 the Organization for cooperation and security in Europe.

A focus was made on parliamentary dialogue. The Speaker noted with pleasure an active work in the Parliament of Senators and Members of Parliament who have Ukrainian descent and recalled a decisive role that Ukrainian Canadians have and are still playing in Canada.

During discussion of people-to-people contacts, Ambassador pointed out the expectation for some steps from the Government of Canada on liberalization of visa regime for the citizens of Ukraine as the Government of Ukraine lifted visa requirements for Canadians back in 2005.

The meeting was also attended by Conservative MP, Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Justice and Human Right Mike Wallace.
