Mr. Lamoureux is Vice-Chair of Canada-Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Group. The two counterparts discussed bilateral Ukraine-Canada relations, paying particular attention to the importance of creating conditions for facilitation for Ukrainians and their visits to Canada: tourists, businesses, artists, relatives of more than 1,3 mln. Ukrainian Canadians. They also discussed democratic development of Ukraine. Mr. Lamoureux shared his personal impressions of Ukraine from the 2012 election when he attended as an observer. Ambassador Prystaiko and Mr. Lamoureux expressed their interest in building more active contacts between Ukrainian and Canadian members of Parliaments.

Ambassador informed Mr. Lamoureux about the observer’s status of Ukraine in the Customs Union, created between Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan which cover almost 40% of overall Ukrainian trade with an emphasis on a priority for Ukraine of European integration, and our expectation for the signature later this fall of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union
