They noted the importance of Ukraine-Canada relations as well as readiness to deepen them. With regard to the political dialogue they greeted the recent meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two countries on the 25th of January 2013 at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Ambassador Prystaiko and Mrs. Hogan noted with pleasure the progress in negotiations on Ukraine-Canada Free Trade Agreement and stressed on the readiness of the two Governments to ensure the best conditions for the development of a mutually beneficial trade.
They paid their attention to Foreign Policy issues. Ambassador stressed that European Integration remains the top priority of the international course of Ukraine. He informed in details Mrs.Hogan about priorities of Ukrainian 2013 Chairmanship in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
They also discussed the issue of energy security of Ukraine, production of shale gas on the territory of Ukraine etc.
Mr.Prystaiko and Mrs.Hogan discussed democratic development of Ukraine, results of the recent parliamentary elections in Ukraine. They agreed on a necessity of further strengthening the rule of law and democracy. In this regard it was noted with pleasure the programs of Canadian International Development Agency, which along with economic issue are also focused on public service and judicial power of Ukraine.
