Ukraine’s Finance Minister Sergii Marchenko paid a working visit to Canada to take part in the G7 financial track and engage with Canadian government officials, investors, and international partners.

In Banff, Minister Marchenko met with Canada’s Minister of Finance, François-Philippe Champagne. The two sides discussed Canada's engagement in Ukraine’s post-war recovery and emerging investment opportunities. 

“Today, Ukraine opens vast opportunities for the private sector. Recovery will be a large-scale investment project with estimated needs exceeding USD 500 billion,” stated Minister Marchenko.

He also held talks with Germany’s Vice Chancellor and Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil, thanking both Canada and Germany for their unwavering solidarity and substantial financial support, which enabled Ukraine to maintain macro-financial stability, ensure salaries for teachers, doctors, civil servants, and continue social assistance during wartime.

Minister Marchenko emphasized the importance of securing sustainable support in 2026, including through the financing of Ukraine’s Armed Forces and their potential integration into Europe’s security architecture — a step with strategic advantages for both Ukraine and the EU.

The visit also included discussions with IMF leadership and meetings with Canadian businesses and investors. The Minister called for increased private sector participation in Ukraine’s recovery and underlined that the Ukrainian Government is implementing comprehensive reforms and fostering a transparent, predictable investment environment.
