Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada, Yuliya Kovaliv, took part in the opening of the 2025 SUSK National Congress – an annual gathering of Ukrainian student organizations from across Canada.
In her address to Congress participants, the Ambassador emphasized that today’s youth are not only bearers of Ukrainian identity abroad, but also agents of change. Their voice, energy, experience, and leadership must be harnessed to strengthen Ukraine’s presence in the global information, academic, and cultural arenas. Ambassador Kovaliv urged students to be leaders of the present, to apply their knowledge, experiences, and achievements for the benefit of Ukraine.
“To be Ukrainian in a time of resistance against Russian aggression is not only about heritage – it is a conscious choice: to speak the truth, act with courage, and refuse to remain silent. Be successful. Strive for excellence in what you do. Use your talent and accomplishments to help Ukraine. Every contribution matters – especially when it’s backed by purpose, passion, and skill.”
The Ambassador also encouraged Ukrainian students to promote the creation of Ukrainian studies programs at their universities and to advocate for their institutions to join the Global Coalition for Ukrainian Studies – an initiative launched by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the SUSK: Ukrainian Canadian Students' Union team for your leadership, tireless efforts, unity, and unwavering support for Ukraine.
