Ottawa flash mob marks one year since Russia’s full-scale invasion of European neighbour
The Ukrainian community, along with the Friends of Ukraine diplomatic group and Ukraine's supporters, will be organizing a “Stand in Solidarity With Ukraine” flash mob in Ottawa, in advance of the one-year anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Location: Flora footbridge (Fifth Avenue and Clegg Street) over the Rideau Canal
All members of the public are invited to participate and express their solidarity with the people of Ukraine who continue to suffer from the brutal Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The 30-metre Flag of Ukraine will be unfurled. Members of the public attending are also encouraged to bring their own flags (Ukrainian flag or the flag of their country of origin), and to blue and yellow.

· February 24, 2023 will mark 365 days since the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
· The UN General Assembly condemned Russia’s unprovoked, full-scale military aggression against its sovereign neighbour and urged Russia to halt its military invasion and withdraw its troops. In solidarity with Ukrainians under attack, the blue and yellow flags have been flying around the world since that time on prominent landmarks.
· The event is co-sponsored by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, the Ukrainian National Federation, Café Ukraine and other community organizations as well as the Friends of Ukraine Diplomatic Group, comprised of more than 30 diplomatic missions in Canada. The Friends of Ukraine Group supports diplomatic efforts in aid of Ukraine and its people in resisting Russia’s foreign aggression defending the internationally recognized borders of Europe and safeguarding the security of NATO member states.
