On February 24, 2025, marking three years since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy hosted the "Support Ukraine" plenary meeting in Kyiv. The event brought together over 40 heads of state and government, along with representatives of the European Union and international organizations, reaffirming their unwavering support for Ukraine.
Among the world leaders who traveled to Kyiv was Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who once again underscored Canada’s steadfast commitment to Ukraine.
Prime Minister Trudeau announced a new package of military and economic support, which includes:
🔹 LAV III armored vehicles
🔹 F-16 landing systems and four simulators for these fighter jets
🔹 Ammunition, military equipment, and medical kits
🔹 The first installment of $5 billion USD from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets
🔹 A grant to support Ukraine’s energy security
During the plenary session, Ukraine’s international partners announced new assistance packages, including:
European Union – €3.5 billion in March 2025
Sweden – €100 million for air defense systems
Spain – €1 billion in military aid
The meeting reinforced the global commitment to standing with Ukraine in its fight for freedom, security, and justice.
Canada remains a steadfast ally of Ukraine, providing critical military, financial, and humanitarian support.
