President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney.
The Head of State expressed gratitude for Canada’s support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, as well as for its readiness to work together towards a just and lasting peace.
The President provided details about all aspects of diplomatic work and ongoing communication with partners. The alignment of joint decisions, coordination of next steps, and discussion of possible meeting formats shortly are underway.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared Ukraine’s vision of Russia’s real intentions and plans. The leaders have the same understanding that the Russians only want to buy time, not to end the war. This is evidenced, in particular, by the situation on the battlefield and Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure and people.
The leaders share a common position: no decisions regarding Ukraine’s future can be made without Ukraine. There can also be no decisions without clear and effective security guarantees. Until this is achieved, sanctions against Russia must remain in force and be continuously strengthened. This pressure must be maintained.
The President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Canada also agreed on further contacts with partners.
