Today marked the Eighth Meeting of the Friends of Ukraine Group, dedicated to the upcoming #PeaceSummit in Switzerland.
The event was attended by Deputy Minister for International Security and Political Director of Global Affairs Canada Heidi Hulan, Stephen de Boer, Foreign and Defence Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister of Canada, and over 60 heads of diplomatic missions in Ottawa, including representatives from the Global South.
Key topics discussed included:
🔸 The Peace Summit and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula. We are grateful to Canada for its active role in supporting the Peace Formula and the Summit, as well as for confirming Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s participation in the event.
🔸 Expanding the participation of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children. To date, 37 countries have joined the Coalition, co-chaired by Ukraine and Canada. Special thanks were extended to Qatari colleagues for their active assistance in returning Ukrainian children and to the Government of Canada for supporting rehabilitation projects for children who have been successfully brought back home.
🔹 The Security Cooperation Agreement between Ukraine and Canada, signed in Kyiv on February 24 of this year.
