Delegations from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine’s Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence and the Committee on Law Enforcement visited Ottawa.

The primary goal of the visit was to study Canada's experience in parliamentary oversight of the security sector, as well as its legislative framework and practices for handling classified information.

The delegation members held meetings with:

• Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada, Greg Fergus,
• Members of the Canada-Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Group,
• The Standing Committee on National Defence of the House of Commons of Canada,
• Representatives of the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security of the House of Commons of Canada,
• The Standing Senate Committee on National Security, Defence, and Veterans Affairs of Canada,
• Bill Blair, Canada’s Minister of National Defence.

The discussions focused on strengthening military assistance to Ukraine and supporting Ukraine's membership in NATO.
