On September 24, 2025, a solemn ceremony of presenting Letters of Credence by Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada Andrii Plakhotniuk took place at Rideau Hall, the official residence of the Governor General of Canada. 

Andrii Plakhotniuk: "Today, I have had the great honour of presenting my Letters of Credence to Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, officially assuming my duties as Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada.

For me, it is a profound privilege and highest responsibility to represent Ukraine in Canada – home to more than 1,4 million Ukrainian Canadians, and nearly 300,000 of my compatriots who have come to Canada seeking safety and protection since the start of Russia’s full-scale armed aggression in 2022. 

Today, when Ukraine continues to resist heroically Russia’s brutal invasion, Canada unwaveringly stands with Ukraine – politically, militarily, economically, and through humanitarian aid. The support of Canada and the Canadian people is not only helping Ukraine defend its freedom but also strengthening international peace and security. 

I look forward to working actively with Canadian partners at all levels for the benefit of our two countries and peoples."
