On February 22, Ambassador Kovaliv visited the Ottawa City Hall and discussed with the Mayor of Ottawa, Mark Sutcliffe, the possibilities of cooperation in the reconstruction of Ukrainian cities. At the invitation of Mark Sutcliffe, Ambassador Kovaliv addressed the City Council of the Canada Capital to tell the Members of the Ottawa Council about one day in the life of our capital. She told about the sirens that warn of an air raid, about the underground metro station, which turned into a shelter, about mutilated infrastructure, hours without light in the homes of Kyiv residents, about rockets that hit a children's playground, energy facilities and crossroads in the center of Kyiv, as well as about incredible Ukrainians - doctors, firefighters, energy workers, communal services, who work tirelessly to return the city to normal life again and again.
The Ambassador thanked Ottawa for helping Ukrainians seeking temporary shelter in their city, fleeing the russian war: "More than 3,000 Ukrainians have arrived in Ottawa since the beginning of the war, and I thank the city council for supporting our citizens."
