On March 15, Ambassador Yulia Kovaliv met at the Embassy with Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education of Ontario.
The parties discussed support for Ukrainian education, in particular, the urgent need for the reconstruction of destroyed schools, equipping them with bomb shelters, the need for equipment for distance education of Ukrainian schoolchildren.
The Ambassador thanked for the support of Ukrainians arriving in Canada.
"Since the beginning of full-scale russian invasion, more than 180,000 Ukrainians have come to Canada, most of them women and children. And it is important for us that our children have the opportunity to continue studying, including in the Ukrainian language.
Today, there are four Ukrainian schools in Toronto alone, but the need for additional Ukrainian classes is growing significantly," Yuliya Kovaliv emphasized.
An important direction of expanding cultural cooperation is the opening of Ukrainian bookshelves in Canadian libraries. The parties agreed to work on that.
