On October 21, 2018 the official Unveiling of Toronto’s Holodomor Memorial Parkette took place. This is the permanent memorial to the victims of the Holodomor, located on a prominent site adjacent to the Princes’ Gates of the Canadian National Exhibition, the Memorial is the largest and most significant project undertaken by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) Toronto Branch in recent history. The center point of the HMP is the ”Bitter Memories of Childhood” monument by sculptor Petro Drozdowsky.
This momentous event was followed by a Community Reception held at Beanfield Centre to meet the artist and other special guests, including the First Vice-Prime-Minister - Minister of Economic Development ad Trade of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Chrystia Freeland and Mayor of Toronto John Tory.
