On September 21-24, 2018, Canada joined the worldwide "Light a Candle of Remembrance!" campaign. The Ukrainian Canadian Congress and some Ukrainian centers held commemorative events in Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, St. Catherine, Toronto, Saskatoon, Montreal, Oakville and Winnipeg. The memorial services for the victims, thematic exhibitions, and special educational events were organized in various Canadian cities.
Given the fact that the event was devoted to the memory of children, the participants of each campaign read the names of the 85 children – out of millions of victims of the Holodomor.
Photos of the events are posted here: http://holodomor85.com/2018/09/20/canada/?lang=en
Similar actions will also be held on October 8 in Winnipeg, on October 21 in Toronto (the opening ceremony of the Holodomor Memorial in Toronto) and on November 19 in Ottawa (a traditional Commemorative event on Parliament Hill, with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in Canada and UCC National).
