The two ministers discussed the current political and security situation in Ukraine, and Minister Nicholson reaffirmed Canada’s support for Ukraine. During the meeting, Minister Nicholson also highlighted Canada’s recent pledge to assist Ukraine with military training and Canada’s ongoing commitment to maintaining pressure on Russia and the Russian-backed insurgents to abide by their commitments under the Minsk agreements.

“Canada is proud to be at the forefront of the international community’s support to Ukraine, both in resisting Russian aggression and in working to ensure Ukraine’s long-term stability, security and prosperity,” said Minister Nicholson.
