President Poroshenko: Ceasefire by all parties must become the basis for the beginning of the peace process
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper.
Petro Poroshenko informed the interlocutor on the elaboration of the plan of actions for peaceful settlement of the situation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions. "Ceasefire by all the parties and disarmament must become the basis for the beginning of the peace process," he emphasized.
In his turn, the Prime Minister of Canada highly evaluated the steps of the Ukrainian President aimed at the achievement of peace in the Donbas. He also resolutely condemned the aggression of Russia and illegal actions of terrorists.
The parties exchanged opinions on topical aspects of bilateral agenda. Speaking of the prospects of its development, Petro Poroshenko drew particular attention to significant role of the Ukrainian community in the given process.
Petro Poroshenko and Stephen Harper also substantively discussed the prospects of cooperation between Ukraine and NATO.
The Head of State expressed gratitude to S. Harper for Canada's firm position on the support to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and practical assistance provided by the Canadian Government due to the situation in the Donbas.
