Prime Minister Stephen Harper during his visit to Kyiv on Saturday has met with Ukraine's Interim Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird, wjo was in Kyiv last month, is accompanying Harper on his visit to Ukraine.

It is expected that visit will include: talks about trade and investment, especially in agriculture sphere; talks about visa facilitation and cultural interaction; future presidential elections.

Additional talking point will be projects conducted by Ukrainian Canadians like the one to strengthen capabilities of Ukrainian military hospital which is treating people injured during fights in Kyiv over the event on Maidan.

Then it is military cooperation, democracy and capacity building which was over the years promoted with help of technical assistance programs of Canada.

Discussion will most likely switch into the Canadian assistance and Ukrainian needs and commitments. Ukraine is grateful for the technical and financial help. 220 mln. were already announced. Sanctions and assets freeze of corrupted members of previous government is important step in reinstating justice and rule of law in Ukraine.
