Mrs. Joy Smith addressed the opening of the Conference which was attended by Ukrainian Ministers and other officials, officials from the OSCE and representatives of more than 50 states. Mrs. Joy Smith saluted Ukraine’s initiative for making fight against human trafficking one of the priorities during its 2013 OSCE Chairmanship.
Member of Parliament said that she shares the position of the OSCE Chair, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara that human trafficking is not an isolated phenomenon, but is often linked with global economic processes, criminal activities, weaknesses in the rule of law, money laundering and other forms of illegal trafficking and criminality. Mrs. Joy Smith expressed her readiness to actively cooperate with the OSCE Ukrainian Chairmanship and the Government of Ukraine in the fight against human trafficking.
