On March 4, 2013 Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada Vadym Prystaiko took part in the Annual meeting of the Canada-Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Group.

During his speech Ambassador congratulated Member of Parliament Ted Opitz with his election as new Chair of the Friendship Group. Noting the importance of functioning in the Canadian Parliament of such a practical mechanism as Canada-Ukraine Friendship Group Vadym Prystaiko informed about his plans to promote contacts of this group with its counterpart in the Ukrainian Parliament.
Members of the Canada-Ukraine Friendship Group who represent all the political parties in the Parliament spoke about their warm attitude towards Ukraine and the importance of Ukraine-Canada relations, while noting close family ties between Ukrainian and Canadian peoples. They emphasized a significant economic, resource and intellectual potential of Ukraine and the importance of strengthening the democratic institutes in our state. The members expressed their readiness to work on intensification of interparliamentary relations with Ukraine.
Totally, the Canada-Ukraine Friendship Group now has 28 members of the Canadian Parliament.
